Sudan: Int’l environmental conference kicks off in Khartoum


    Delegations from forty countries are in the Sudanese capital Khartoum for the country’s first International environmental conference which kicked off on Saturday.

    The conference, which is organized by the Higher Council of Environment, Urban and Rural Promotion (HCEURP) in Khartoum state from 12 to 15 March, will discuss environmental problems facing the state.

    The conference will tackle issues of desertification, water and irrigation shelter-belts and the renewable energy.

    ”The climate change, the issues of desertification and shelterbelts besides the recommendations of Paris conference and supporting environment projects in Sudan will be discussed in the conference” a source pointed out.

    The conference is also aiming to attract funds from the various organizations and countries to support the environmental projects in the Sudanese capital.

    The Sudanese government hopes the conference will also discuss the support of the international community to support garbage management project in all the states of Sudan.
